Wenatchee Valley Mall hosts its first annual Cool Kids Move event Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 11am to 1:00pm in partnership with Coca Cola and Molina Healthcare. Cool Kids Move will be located in suite B9, across from The Children’s Place in the Wenatchee Valley Mall.Cool Kids Move is centered around fighting childhood obesity and promoting healthy and active lifestyles for kids. According to a report from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, as of 2014, Obesity Rates in Washington State 27.3% and 11% of children become obese between the ages of 10 and 17 (in 2011).Inspired in part by Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign, Wenatchee Valley Mall has developed an event to show kids how fun and rewarding an active lifestyle can be. Joined by the United Way of Chelan and Douglas County Youth Division, kids will rotate through “stations” where they will perform a different physical activity at each. These activities include sit-ups, push-ups, jump rope, hula hoops, mind teasers (puzzles) and yo-yos. Children will receive a Cool Kids Move Passport when they check-in for the event and receive a stamp from each station after completion of the activity.Completed passports can be redeemed for a complimentary day pass to the Eastmont YMCA Aquatics Center, apple slices and a color-changing water bottle from Wenatchee Valley Mall. Samples of Coca cola’s Sparkling Juices will be available as well.Kids Club is a free event for children under 12 the third Saturday of every month sponsored by Sangster Motors, Columbia Valley Community Health, M. Vail, Co., and Sportsman’s Warehouse.
