Wenatchee has a new tasting room!Belly up to the reclaimed wood bar, taste local wines/beer/cider, enjoy the bustling downtown view and learn all there is to know about the Wenatchee area at the NEW Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce showroom in downtown Wenatchee, corner of Second Street and Wenatchee Ave. Drawing inspiration from the regions agricultural and industrial history, their new space is a spacious wine bar, information center, conference room and private event space of refined industrial sophistication wrapped in their 1929 historic buildings repurposed wood, steel, gears, doors and a VINTAGE TRUCK. Show-stopper appeal that is modern and comfortable with local nostalgic character.
You will enjoy tasting over a dozen regional wineries and a handful of local-made micro-beers and ciders. A tasting fee of $5 provides you 4 1 oz. pours of rotating wines, beers, or ciders. Use one of their I-Pad information stations to help you navigate Wenatchee and the surrounding communities. Friendly Chamber ambassadors are on hand to talk about the community and give you recommendations. When you talk with the good people at the Chamber you can’t help but notice their community pride and passion about living in the valley and supporting local community businesses. They love to share their knowledge about the valley and make a personal connection with you. In fact, that community pride and passion was the backbone of this project. Chamber members, local sponsors and local folks helped realize this new community space from providing sponsor donations to applying their artistic talents to the showroom details. The WOW feature is the 1946 Ford work-truck (actually used in a local orchard) that was cut in half and sits at the head of the bar with the original flatbed refinished and used as the tasting bar counter. Students from Wenatchee High School Graphic Arts department painted a beautiful mural of a Stemilt orchard in the valley on a focal wall behind the truck.
Many of the design features are original to the building. The entire building has been and still is being completely remodeled. Therefore some of the original materials had to be replaced, which in turn became the inspiration to showcasing Wenatchee agricultural heritage with custom industrial details from the remodeled building. Local artisans were appointed to re-fine the buildings two boiler doors, make them functional, and used to close off the Chamber offices and conference rooms. Large elevator gears are integrated into a unique table design, reclaimed wood from the elevator shaft completely line one feature wall housing brochures and wine bottles, and exposed steel beams in the ceiling are dusted off and given the spotlight once again.
Attracting visitors to wine taste and inquire about the area, The Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce continues to think out-of-the-box to expand their tourism market reach and advocate for local small businesses. Centrally located downtown next to the Wenatchee Convention Center and the Performing Art Center, the tasting room/information center is perfectly positioned to accomodate both local theater patrons and out-of-area visitors participating at Convention banquets.
As part of their new marketing campaign, the Chamber has also re-vamped its website! A modern, user friendly website complete with all the information you need to live, visit, and move to the valley. Additionally, a local lifestyle blog authored by guest editors is spotlighted on the website to give insightful and useful information and recommendations about living or visiting the Wenatchee Valley.
