Spring is here and so is Ohme Gardens’ 2021 season! Wenatchee’s own sprawling, hillside oasis opened Thursday, April 15 to visitors near and far. The nine-acre garden paradise is a must-visit and perfect for a day trip to see the beautiful scenery of Wenatchee.
Ohme Gardens features wandering pathways, picturesque lawns, and tranquil hidden pools shaded by evergreen trees. With breathtaking views of the Cascades and the Columbia River valley and plenty of pockets to explore, this oasis is a great choice for a family friendly outing or a scenic walk at lunchtime. This will be the first time Ohme Gardens is open to the public after the cancellation of the 2020 season last Spring. It was a tough decision to close the gardens to the community, but the Chelan County Commission and Gardens Director Jason Browning saw an amazing opportunity to make much needed renovations and revitalize the Gardens.
Revitalization is the name of the game as visitors will now be greeted by a brand new 1,200 square- foot ticket office and gift shop upon entry, one of the main projects Browning and his team undertook with the extended 2020 offseason. Other updates include new signage, a new gate, landscaping, and maintenance projects that wouldn’t have been scheduled without the time off.“We’re really happy to have visitors back in the Gardens again,” says Browning. "We worked hard in the offseason getting ready to reopen and it definitely shows. I think it will be exciting for those who have been out before to see the changes we’ve made.”A few movie nights are expected to be added to the calendar but stay tuned for official dates and details. In the meantime, Ohme Gardens are lush, soon to be in full bloom, and just waiting to be explored! The 2021 season runs from April 15 through October 15, 2021. Find out more at www.ohmegardens.org!
