This year, it’s set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Reach Dam Discovery Center. A cornerstone event in North Central Washington, the Salmon Festival is a natural resource education extravaganza that celebrates the salmon, wildlife, rivers, native tribes, and the intricate bond between humans and the environment. The event is open to all on Saturday, September 21st for Community Day.
Since 1991, the Salmon Festival has welcomed thousands from across Washington State, offering fun for all ages. Explore the popular Salmon Maze, wander through the Native American Village, and enjoy exhibits that celebrate the return of the salmon to the Wenatchee River. With an exciting lineup of hands-on activities, exhibits, and interactive experiences that are as educational as they are entertaining, there’s something for everyone!
Here’s just a glimpse of what you can expect:
Native American Village: Don’t miss the extraordinary Native American Village hosted by Chelan PUD, where you can immerse yourself in the rich traditions of over 12 tribes from across the Pacific Northwest. This meticulously crafted village offers a cultural education experience with hands-on activities that include traditional drumming and dancing, atlatl throws, canoe carving, basket weaving and more.
Salmon Maze: Step into the 40 by 40 foot Salmon Maze and experience life as a salmon! In this interactive, barrier-free maze, you’ll navigate the many challenges of aquatic life and migration, from hatching as a tiny fry to facing predators and obstacles along the way. As you journey through the maze, you’ll follow the incredible life cycle of a salmon, gaining a deeper understanding of the struggles they endure to survive.
Live Entertainment: With a vibrant lineup of live entertainment all day long, you’ll experience a rich tapestry of performances, from captivating Pow Wow dances and engaging reptile shows to lively music that will keep you dancing and entertained throughout the festival!
