The Community Foundation of NCW has chosen the Children’s Home Society to receive the $50,000 Endowment Grant award. Offered every other year, the endowment grant provides annual income to the nonprofit organization in perpetuity. As the fund grows and donations are added, that annual stream of income increases and helps to sustain the organization for generations.
Children’s Home Society is a state-wide organization established in 1869 with a mission to develop healthy children, create strong families, build engaged communities, and speak and advocate for children. They offer several programs, including: Parent and Child Counseling/Mental Health Services; Therapeutic Foster Care; Readiness to Learn to support struggling students; Truancy Intervention; and Home Based Services, providing early childhood home visiting/education program. The grant will specifically support the work through Wenatchee location.There were two other finalists for the grant: the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society and Mobile Meals of Wenatchee. “The decision was very hard this year” said Denise Sorom, director of community philanthropy at the foundation. “We had three extraordinary organizations as finalists, all serving very different but important missions. We are so proud of their outstanding contributions to our region and the many ways they make our valley a better place to live.”The Endowment Grant is open to nonprofits in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan Counties.
