Wenatchee’s 9th annual Rails and Ales event is just around the corner! This free event is jam-packed with skiing and snowboarding fun for the whole family. Over 4,000 people attended the event last year, so the Visit Wenatchee team expanded the event to span across multiple locations.
Ready to celebrate winter sports in all their glory? Here’s what you can expect on the day of this year’s epic event on Saturday, March 9in the heart of downtown Wenatchee.
To kick off the day, head to Centennial Park at noon to enjoy some winter activities. Test your skills on skis or on a snowboard, trek through the snow in a pair of snowshoes, and audition your aim in a hockey puck shootout. All ages can participate in the fun. You can also grab a quick bite or brew from a variety of local vendors like Dooley Dogs or Mela Coffee. Be sure to stick around for an electric rock jam performance by Hungry Heart, a Bruce Springsteen cover band, at 3 PM.
For the rail jam at 4 PM, Mission Ridge Ski + Board Resort brings the mountain to Orondo Ave, shutting down the street and trucking snow from the hill. This event is an adrenaline-junkie's paradise packed with noseslides and 270s performed by some of the Pacific Northwest’s best skiers and snowboarders throwing down their craziest stunts to compete for a $1,000 cash prize. Snack and sip on an array of food trucks and locally crafted beer or cider at the 21+ beer garden hosted by Wenatchee Valley Brewing Co. and The Taproom by Hellbent.
The fun doesn’t stop there – head back to Centennial Park for a closing award ceremony and concert by Bellingham’s rock powerhouse, Sour Fuzz, at 8 PM. A beer garden will also be in a designated audience area, so all ages can enjoy the music! Don’t miss out on Wenatchee Valley Brewing’s popular Mission Ridge IPA inspired by the resort itself. This hop-forward brew packs a citrusy punch with nods to the excitement Mission Ridge brings to its guests year-round.
