Death by Design opens at the Riverside playhouse January 18. It’s a madcap Murder Mystery spoof Rob Urbinati. Equal parts Agatha Christie and Noel Coward sprinkled with a liberal dose of slapstick, this play features a host of broad and hilarious characters. The witty playwright with a critical flop, his oversexed actress wife, a stuffy conservative politician, spunky Irish Maid, nearsighted ingenue, zany modern dancer, fiery socialist revolutionary, and the handsome chauffeur. Everyone has a motive! It’s a hilarious who-dunnit with a twist you will never forget.
Director Marcus Bingham is excited to be working with the Music Theatre of Wenatchee for the first time. Marcus is joined by a talented production crew, with Vicki Michael creating costumes, Romaine Doty helping with make-up and hair, and Arlene Jones assisting with props. Milo Klanke and Mike Abbott are doing the lion’s share of set construction, and Christian Lockman will be manning the lighting and sound for the show.
The cast includes Terry Sloan as Bridget the Maid, JJ Hernandez as Jack the Butler, Skylar Cuthill as Edward the playwright, Kari Novikoff as Sorel the actress, Tamson Reed as Victoria the Avant Guarde dancer, Maxwell Reister as Eric the revolutionary, Ted Fredricks as Walter the politician, and Mandi Wickline as Alice the ingenue.
